Iron Crown
Privacy policy
Iron Crown is a turn-based strategy game for Android, made by RunicGrid Games ("we"). This page explains what information the game uses, why, and the choices you have.
In short: the game needs no account and asks for no personal details. Your progress stays on your device. We run no analytics and do not track you. Google collects some information through the ads in the free acts, as described below.
What stays on your device
Your saves, settings and progress are stored only on your device. We never receive them. Uninstalling the game deletes them.
Online play
Online play is optional. When you start or join an online match, the game connects to our relay server, hosted by Cloudflare, so that the two devices can exchange moves. It sends:
- a random identifier that the game makes on your device the first time you play online. It is not linked to your name, your Google account or your device's hardware. It only lets a dropped game take its seat again;
- the room code;
- your match: the commander and battle settings you choose, and your orders during the battle.
The relay passes these to your opponent. It keeps each room so that a dropped connection can pick up where it left off, and deletes it automatically 12 hours after its last message. There is no chat and there are no player names.
Like any internet service, Cloudflare receives your device's IP address in order to deliver the connection. We do not store it or use it to identify you. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Ads (Google AdMob)
The free acts offer rewarded ads: a short video you can choose to watch for a bonus in the game. An ad never plays unless you choose one, and players who buy Act 3 or Act 4 are not offered ads.
The ads are provided by Google AdMob. Google's Mobile Ads SDK in the game collects:
- your device's IP address, which can indicate its approximate location;
- your device's advertising ID and app set ID;
- how you interact with ads, such as views and taps;
- diagnostic information about the performance of the game and the SDK.
Google uses this to show and measure ads, to prevent fraud and, where you allow it, to choose ads that suit you. Read how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
- If you are in the UK, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, the game asks for your consent first, using Google's consent form. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy options.
- You can reset your advertising ID, or turn off personalised ads, in your device's own settings (usually Settings → Google → Ads, or Settings → Privacy → Ads).
Purchases (Google Play)
Act 3 and Act 4 can be bought through Google Play. Google handles the payment, and we never see your payment details. The game records on your device which acts you own, and checks your purchases with Google Play. Google's privacy policy covers the payment.
What we do not do
- We do not ask for your name, email address or any other contact details.
- We run no analytics or tracking of our own.
- We do not sell your information.
Children
Iron Crown is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the UK GDPR or the EU GDPR), you have the right to ask for a copy of personal information about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to its use. We hold nothing that identifies you, so usually there is nothing for us to give or delete, but you can contact us at any time and we will help. For the information Google collects for ads, use the choices above. You can also complain to your data protection authority; in the UK, that is the Information Commissioner's Office.
Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent before ads use your information, through Google's consent form. We handle online play's data because it is needed to give you the online match you ask for.
Security
Everything the game sends over the internet is encrypted in transit (HTTPS and secure WebSockets).
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
