Fairytale: Create & Play
Privacy policy
Fairytale: Create & Play is a creative game for children aged 4 to 8, for Android, made by RunicGrid Games ("we"). This page explains what information the game uses, why, and the choices a grown-up has.
The game has no ads, no analytics, no accounts and no sign-in, and we run no servers for it. Your child's creations are saved only on the device. We receive nothing from the game. Google Play handles the one optional purchase and the download of the extra content that comes with it, as described below.
What stays on the device
To play, the game keeps these in its own private storage on the device:
- the outfits, rooms, colouring, cakes, toys, stickers, potions, gems and other things your child makes, and their progress in the games;
- pictures taken with the game's own camera button. These are pictures of the game's characters and scenes: the game does not use the device's camera;
- the music, sound and voice settings, and whether the whole game has been bought.
None of this is sent to us or to anyone else. The game turns off Android's app backup, so it is not copied to a backup service either. Uninstalling the game removes it.
The grown-ups' corner
The grown-ups' corner is behind a multiplication question written in words, meant to be too hard for a young child. The purchase is behind it too. There, a grown-up can:
- turn the music, sounds and spoken words on or off;
- save the game's photos and coloured pages to the device's Pictures folder (on Android 10 or newer), where the device's own gallery can see them. Once saved, they are managed like any other picture on the device;
- clear the photo album, start a fresh look, or delete all of the game's saved data.
Spoken words
The game says what things are out loud ("Shoes!"). Most words are recordings that come with the game. Any others are spoken by the device's own text-to-speech, using a voice that runs on the device: the game skips voices that send words away to be spoken. The game only ever gives the speech engine its own fixed words, never anything about your child.
Permissions
The game never asks for a permission: it has no access to the camera, microphone, location, contacts or the device's photos. Google's Play libraries, which the game uses for the purchase and the download, add Android permissions that are granted without asking: internet and network state, the Play billing service, and running a download in the background. The game itself makes no internet connections.
The purchase (Google Play)
The game is free. One optional purchase, made by a grown-up in the grown-ups' corner, unlocks the whole game for good. Google Play handles it: payment details go to Google, never to the game or to us. The game asks Google Play whether the whole game has been bought, confirms a completed purchase to Google Play, and keeps a note on the device that it's unlocked.
Google Play Billing and Google's own software inside the game may send Google information about the purchase and about how its billing software is working, under Google's terms and privacy policy.
The extra content download (Google Play)
After the purchase, Google Play downloads the extra content (Play Asset Delivery). To deliver the right files, Google's service processes information about the device and the version of the game. If the device is on mobile data, Google Play may ask a grown-up before downloading. Once it is downloaded, the whole game plays offline.
Read Google's privacy policy.
What we do not do
- We show no ads, and the game contains no advertising software.
- We run no analytics, tracking or crash reporting.
- There are no accounts, logins, chat, sharing or links out of the game for children.
- We do not ask for a name, email address or any other personal information.
- We do not collect, sell or share information about your child.
Children
The game is made for children. It has no server of ours that could hold children's information, and everything it saves stays on the device, where a grown-up can delete it. Google's services follow Google's own terms and privacy policy.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the UK GDPR or the EU GDPR), you have rights over personal information about you or your child. We hold none from the game. For information Google processes for purchases and downloads, contact Google. You can also complain to your data protection authority; in the UK, that is the Information Commissioner's Office.

Changes
If the game changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change reaches the game.
